About Your Presenter:
Davina Patterson
Davina Patterson is the Executive Director of Disability Resource Network located in Huntsville, AL but services 13 counties in North Alabama . She's a graduate of the University of Alabama at Birmingham with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Healthcare Management and a minor in Community Health Education and African American Studies. Davina has made history by being the first female Executive Director of a Center for Independent Living in the State of Alabama. Davina has been working in healthcare for 20 years. Prior to her employment with Disability Resource Network, she served as Business Manager for four years at a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) where she managed three sites in Northwest Alabama. She's also worked at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama, UAB Hospital, and the Birmingham VA Medical Center. She completed her management Internship at Children's Hospital of Alabama in Corporate Compliance. Davina began working in Independent Living in 2020 and was tasked to start up the first Center for Independent Living in North Alabama.
Davina is passionate about advocating for people with disabilities to live independently. She has made an impact in the community by removing stigmas and barriers for people with disabilities and bringing disability awareness. She has experience in unserved and underserved communities. In the Fall of 2019, She was featured in Rural Leader Magazine and named Small Town 100 Most Influential People, 2020 256 Magazine 40 Faces Under 40 Honoree, named as a Female Disruptor by Authority Magazine , 2023 Huntsville Business Journal Inaugural 40 Under 40 Honoree, 2023 UAB Blazer Way Finalist, 2023 UAB National Alumni Society Young Alumni Rising Star Award recipient, and the 2023 UAB Healthcare Leaders Alumni Association Unsung Hero Award winner.
Davina has been featured on numerous podcast and has been a conference presenter and keynote speaker. Davina is the Secretary of the Disabilities Leadership Coalition of Alabama and a 2024 Women’s Foundation of Alabama Women’s Policy Institute Fellow.
She’s a member of the Alabama Statewide Independent Living Council, UAB Women In Healthcare Leadership Board Member (2021-2023), the City of Huntsville Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Strategic Advisory Committee, City of Huntsville Disability Awareness Committee, Association of Programs for Independent Living Board Member, National Council on Independent Living, South Eastern Center Directors Association, National Association of Health Services Executives, REV UP Voting Coalition Alabama Chapter, Auburn University ADA Advisory Committee, and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.
Davina loves shopping, DIY projects, home decorating, blogging, traveling, and journaling. Davina is known for her leadership and excellence in service.
